APCs and fees policy
The Primary Education Journal supports Diamond Open Access. Diamond Open Access (Diamond OA) is a community-driven, non-commercial model of scholarly publishing that removes financial barriers for authors and readers. Under Diamond Open Access, publications are freely accessible online, with neither subscription fees for readers nor article processing charges (APCs) for authors.
With Diamond OA policy, no fees are charged to authors under any name for manuscript submission, processing or publication in The Primary Education Journal. All costs necessary for the operation of the journal are covered by the publisher. Furthermore, all articles published in the journal are freely accessible without any charges or membership requirements. For further information on this matter, please refer to our Open access and licensing policy.

Key Characteristics of Diamond OA:
- Community-Led and Academic-Centric: Diamond Open Access models are often operated by academic institutions, scholarly communities, or research networks. They emphasise scholarly integrity, transparency, and collaboration over profit.
- Multilingual and Culturally Inclusive: Diamond Open Access supports diverse languages and cultural perspectives, fostering bibliodiversity and enabling knowledge sharing across linguistic and cultural boundaries.
- Equity and Accessibility: Diamond Open Access promotes research inclusivity by eliminating fees. It allows researchers in low-resource regions to participate, thus supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Why Diamond Open Access?

Diamond Open Access embodies the principles of the UNESCO Recommendation on Open Science, particularly openness, inclusivity, and collaboration. This model strengthens equitable access to knowledge, promotes multilingualism, and democratizes science, supporting UNESCO’s broader mission to close knowledge and technology gaps globally.
